Title: Lecture by Dr. Susan Sclafani, former Assistant Secretary of Education
Description:
Dr. Susan Sclafani, former Assistant Secretary of Education for
Vocational and Adult Education, will visit Teachers College in Nov.
15th, 2007. Susan served as Counselor to the Secretary of Education
for the task of promoting and ensuring the highest standards in
education. She was the leader in Department of Education for creation
of the Math and Science Initiative (MSI). She also led the Department's
High School Initiative to better prepare students for the 21st Century
education.
Dr. Sclafani will attend the fourth Advanced Seminar of Education
Leadership by Center on Chinese Education and provide a lecture about
her comparative study between U.S. and China. In terms of China, her
global work led to her leadership of the joint E-Language Learning
Project with the Chinese Ministry of Education. Most recently Dr.
Sclafani worked to develop an interactive, game-based, on-line
E-Language Learning System in Mandarin and English. She has also
successfully established and managed an exchange program between
Dalian, China Municipal Education Department and the Houston
Independent School District.
The event is organized by the Center on Chinese Education.
