The Third Advanced Seminar for K-12 Education Leaders
The third Advanced Seminar on Education Management was held at Teachers College Columbia University on April 2 to 6, 2007. It consisted of presentations and discussion at Teachers College, and a field study of schools in New Jersey State. Like the previous two seminars, the major theme of the third seminar focused on effective education leadership and school reform. The speakers shared their experiences and research in the standards of effective school leadership, teacher evaluation, school finance, and so on. Participants consisted of 31 primary and secondary school principals, chancellors, and other educators from China. Besides, the participants visited South Orange-Maplewood School District and learned the "multiple intelligences" model developed by Harvard University's Howard Gardner. They also visited McNair Academic High School, the best public high school in the New Jersey State. The Chinese delegation was led by Mrs. Hui Jin of the Center Education Development, Chinese Society of Education. At Teachers College, Professor Mun Tsang was the organizer and Mr. Dakai Li was the Project Manager.
