COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS
AT THE TC EDZONE

Dr. Dawn Arno, Director of the The Teachers College EdZone Partnership (TC EdZone) will host a series of Community Conversations about critical issues affecting the educational achievement of children in Harlem and Northern Manhattan.  
 
Parents, students, community members, K-12 teachers, staff and administrators as well as professionals from Teachers College and other Higher Education institutions are invited to participate in these conversations which will be held on the last Monday each month, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the TC EdZone Conference Room at the Gordon Campus, 8th floor of the Theresa Towers.
 
We begin the 2006-2007 series with conversations about Mathematics Literacy on July 31, 2006.  The next Community Conversation will be held on August 28th, These conversations are intended to engage, inform, and support parents and guardians, students, teachers and administrators in improving student performance.

July 31, 2006:   Mathematics Literacy & Proficiency:  Ensuring High level CONTENT in the curriculum.
 
August 28, 2006:   How to ensure success in school for teachers and children:  Creating the appropriate CONTEXTS for  Learning.
 
September 28, 2006:   Reading Proficiency & Literacy; Ensuring High Level CONTENT in the curriculum.
 
October 30, 2006:  The TESTING GAME:  How to help your child win.
 
November 27, 2006:  Your child's CONFIDENCE and COMFORT level as a learner:  Important ingredients for success.
 
December 18, 2006:   Technological Literacy .
 
January 29, 2007:   Standardized Tests and Test Prep.

February 26, 2007:  Eliminating Barriers to Learning.  Providing TTM -  "Time To Mastery".
 
March 26, 2007:  Tests are over but School is NOT.  What's happening?
 
April 30, 2007:   Promotionally In Doubt? Why?  What is PID? 
 
May 30, 2007:   Avoiding Summer Setbacks:  Finding and Creating Learning Opportunities throughout Summer.
