Social Work

Social Work support is a critical need in this region. School improvement in this TC EdZone region cannot be achieved by our attending only to the improvement of academic skills but social and emotional development is also vital. Compared to the rest of NYC, Community District’s (CD) 9 & 10 (TC EdZone’s service area) are reported as having the highest incidence of educational neglect.

Twelve graduate Social Work Interns (SWI’s) have been provided for our four partner schools through our partnership with the Satterwhite Professional Development Academy. The Fall 2005 SWI’s are graduate students at Schools of Social Work at Fordham University, New York University (NYU), Hunter College, Stonybrook and Yeshiva
