Community Based Organizations and School Partners
New York City Mission Society (NYCMS) is a lifeline to 8,700 individuals each year in communities of long-standing need in Harlem, the South Bronx and Brooklyn. They fulfill their mission - to help children and families to learn, achieve and succeed - at the Minisink Townhouse in Central Harlem and in eight New York City public schools through needs-responsive programming that focuses on education, personal growth and development, prevention, and arts and recreation. The NYCMS program at PS 92 has been running since 2004 and serves 100 students. For more information on NYCMS and programs they run throughout NYC please see their website at: http://nycmissionsociety.org
Public School 92 is committed to motivating students, faculty, parents and community to share a vision of high student expectation and academic achievement. They believe that "All children can learn," and work to ensure that students can read at or above grade level by the end of grade three. Emphasis is placed on enabling students to meet grade level performance standards in a safe, orderly and respectful learning environment. In essence, they are preparing students to become independent, lifelong learners and productive citizens to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century.
