Hollingworth Preschool
History and Purpose

Hollingworth Preschool is a program of Teachers College at Columbia University. Hollingworth Preschool has a dual mission to provide enrichment opportunities for young children while also serving as a lab school site for professional development of Teachers College graduate students. The mission of the preschool is to provide an optimal educational match between the needs of the bright, creative and curious children it serves, and our developmentally appropriate and responsive early childhood environment. As we provide an optimal match for this special population, each child grow intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. Each child also develops a love of learning, positive attitudes towards school, and lasting friendships. Our curriculum is designed to nurture each child's unique potential while promoting joyful membership in a learning community. Our thoughtful, caring, highly-trained faculty observes and responds appropriately to individual needs within the context of a shared classroom culture. The charge of educating the young children entrusted to Hollingworth Preschool is a challenge that is met with expertise, enthusiasm, and delight!
