The original version of the ESCAPE curriculum, Effective Strategy-Based Curriculum for Abuse Prevention and Empowerment, developed and evaluated by Khemka, Hickson, and Reynolds (2005) for women with intellectual disabilities, has been expanded in collaboration with AHRC New York City to include situations and activities that are appropriate for males as well as females with intellectual/developmental disabilities. With the support of the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, this project allowed us to develop and field test an ESCAPE-DD Staff Training DVD and Curriculum CD package for dissemination. The expanded version of the curriculum, ESCAPE-DD, is available as follows:

package (includes Staff Training DVD and CD version of Curriculum, Instructors Manual, Vignette Booklet, Booklet of
Activity Sheet Masters with assembly instructions) may be requested by contacting Professor Linda Hickson at LH76@columbia.edu.
2. Enroll in a Train-the-Trainer Workshop
Additional training with the ESCAPE-DD curriculum may be arranged. One-Day Train-the-Trainer Workshops at Teachers College,
Workshop Fee: $495 (includes hard copy and one CD copy of ESCAPE-DD). Group discounts may be arranged.
3. Arrange for an ESCAPE-DD Training Workshop at your Facility
It
may be possible to arrange for experienced trainers to come to your
facility to conduct Train-the-Trainer Workshops for groups of up to 12
individuals.
Workshop Fee: $1,500 + Travel Expenses from NYC for 2-3 Trainers (includes one hard copy and one copy of the Staff Training DVD/Curriculum CD package. of ESCAPE-DD). Additional hard copies may be purchased for each workshop participant at $98 each.
