Megan Laverty

Megan Laverty is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Education in the Department of Arts and Humanities at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Laverty holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Melbourne and a B.A. in philosophy and anthropology also from the University of Melbourne. Before joining Teachers College, Laverty was a faculty member at Montclair State University (USA) and at the University of Melbourne (Australia).

Her research interests are in moral philosophy and philosophy and literature, particularly as they relate to Philosophy for Children. She has been involved in the development of ethics curriculum materials in relation to design and technology and information technology. She has co-directed Philosophy for Children workshops and presented at numerous national and international conferences.
