“Through this body of works, I tried to create imagery and symbols that suggest a sense of high technology. I made symbolic shapes-a tube or a pipe. The shape of a tube looks like a screw nut (machine) or a blood vessel (organism). While the screw nut is a part of the machine, the blood vessel is a part of organism. Together, they become an organic machine. The machine-like tube also can be a sexual symbol; the shape of a round hole is female, while the shape of a long line is male. Two genders in a body will be a new gender as a cyborg for the future that includes both male and female.”

“튜브는 내 작품의 상징적인 이미지이다. 튜브의 생김새가 내가 작품을 통해 말하고자 하는 ‘하이테크노로지가 세상을 지배하는 사회,’ 즉 미래사회 표현의 중요한 요소이기 때문이다. 내 작품속에서 튜브들은 자유롭게 휘어 있기도 하고 정형화되어 있기도 하다. 구부러진 튜브의 생김새는 우리인간의 몸속에 있는 핏줄같기도 하고, 정형화된 튜브들은 기계들을 연결해 주는 나사같기도 하다. 핏줄로서의 튜브는 유기체이고 나사로서의 튜브는 기계의 한 부품이다. 유기체와 기계가 동시하는 유기체 기계 사회, 그것이 내가 느끼는 미래사회의 모습이다. 다른 한편으로 튜브는 성(SEX)의 형태를 가지고 있다. 가운데가 뚫려있는 둥근 부분은 여성의 상징이고, 옆의 긴 부분은 남성의 상징이다. 한 몸에 여성과 남성을 동시에 가지고 있는 새로운 성으로서의 튜브는 생산의 무한성을 암시하는 또다른 유기체기계이며, 이는 미래사회에 남성, 여성과 함께할 제3의 성, 사이보그라고 말할 수있다”.
