| ¡°Art, Market is a video work that is based on a record of an event. The event which is comprised of two parts was carried out on a street in In-sa-dong. First part of the event is my selecting a series of places and documenting the street on Sunday afternoon when the street is extremely crowded with people. Second part of the event is installing a small video display monitor on the street early in the morning when there are hardly any people on the street except for the cleaning men. The monitor is showing the documentation from the crowded street in a day time. There is a contradiction between the noisy sounds from the video display monitor which represents a flow of a large number of people on the documented street and serene ambience of the real street at dawn. Even though the second part of the event is basically supposed to be completed at that moment, the documentation of the event is inevitably required in order to prove the fact that this event had occurred. Editing techniques work for more effective communication between the original event and the viewers who is to watch the final product of the video editing.¡± |
