NATIONAL EPortfolio CONFERENCE

LaGuardia Community College is holding a national ePortfolio conference:"Making Connections: ePortfolio, Integrative Learning and Assessment" on April 10-12. The conference will showcase work from LaGuardia and campuses nationwide, and provides a unique opportunity to explore the promise and practice of ePortfolio in higher education.

The keynote speaker for this year's Making Connections conference is Dr. Kathleen Blake Yancey. A widely-known thinker and educator and the author of 10 books and 65 scholarly articles. In addition to Kathleen's keynote, which will take place Friday morning, the conference will offer 45+ concurrent sessions, led by faculty engaged in groundbreaking work with ePortfolio at such schools as Michigan, Portland State, Virginia Tech, Alverno, the University of Westminster in London and Kapi'olani Community College in Honolulu and a unique set of presentations from LaGuardia students and faculty.

TC-IT this JUNE

TC- It previously called "The New Media Pedagogy Intensive Summer Institute" is held every summer provides various opportunities for faculty to familiarize with the most recent developments of technology with particular emphasis on its pedagogical use. The goal is to provide reflections on the following question: “How can we make use of new technologies so that we can create rich contexts that will engage students more actively in the construction of knowledge?” In order to increase student engagement and enhance their learning the pedagogy institute aims at. providing hands-on activities to develop innovative and effective strategies for integrating digital tools into teaching practices engaging faculty in a dialogue about pedagogy, curriculum, and technology.

This year we will have a two day institute in JUNE

Topics will involve: Virtual Worlds, specifically on TC-Educator in Second life
