You will receive a communication by the Provost on the danger of file sharing activity soon
Engaging in file sharing activity on the internet through peer-to peer software (P2P) is strictly forbidden at TC. This involves dowloading music, movies and all sort of copyrighted material.
THIS IS SERIOUS MATTER. The risks involved are several:
Besides the illegal distribution of audio and visual material, such activity may compromise your computer and that of others.
File-sharing software may carry malware, spyware and viruses, that may invade the privacy of your computer system . This unwanted software may reside in your computer system even after you have deleted the shared file and can be very difficult to be removed.
Your computer will be vulnerable to attacks and you may provide a potential access point to those who want to compromise a system.
You may inadvertently share files that are private

Academic Computing is commited to saving the trees and is actively working with the student senate on the Go Green project to save paper. Our printers in the computer labs will all allow for double sided printing

SPSS
SPSS v17 (PC/Mac) is available. Those interested in using the sotware may purchase the licence at a discount through the e-academy web site
NVIVO 8
Nvivo 8 is available at the QSR website. The company provides a range of student licencing price. From a full version of NVivo8 on a single computer for twelve months to a semester licence (six months) Student identification is required and the product is only supplied as an internet download.

Endnote X2 for PC and Endnote X1 for MAC are available for download.The software is free for students regularly registered at TC.
ENDNOTE X2 INSTALLANTION NOTES:
After downloading and extracting Endnote X2 , you will have 2 files on your computer. You need to MAKE SURE that these files are INSIDE a folder. If they are not, just create a new folder and put the two files in the folder. Failure to do so will ask you to provide a serial number upon installation.
SMARTBOARD purchase
ACS is proud to announce the purchase of 5 new SMARTBoards for the classrooms. These boards are touch- sensitive and allow for a great deal of interactions. Computer applications can be directly controlled using just the board connected directly to a computer and a projector. Notes can be written on the board, saved and shared at a later time.
