Policy on Windows Vista

Teachers College does not currently support Vista for use on campus.  This is because many applications in use across the College are not yet certified for Vista.  For personal use, CIS recommends waiting until the first service pack has been released for a product, which for Vista is expected to be at the end of the summer 2007. 

The applications not yet certified for Windows Vista include Banner, Oracle and MATLAB as well as many others.  CIS will begin deploying Windows Vista once all College-wide applications have been certified, thorough testing has been completed, our Helpdesk staff has been trained on supporting Vista, and the first service pack for Vista has been released.

Please note that all computer purchases at Teachers College should be vetted through CIS to ensure that compatible machines and operating systems are purchased.  The simplest way to purchase a new computer is to contact the TC Helpdesk at x3300, which usually has some in stock.
