CIS is enabling all Google Consumer applications

CIS is enabling all Google Consumer applications for all individuals with a TCApps account starting Monday, November 2nd, 2015.

Your Uni and password provide you with access to all Google Core Apps. While Google’s Core Services (Mail, Drive, Sites, Calendar, Contacts and Sites), provide additional privacy and security features under an agreement between Teachers College and Google, additional Google Apps, such as Google+, Google Communities, Google Hangout, Picasa, Google Maps and YouTube fall under Google’s Consumer Terms of Service and not the one negotiated between Teachers College and Google.

Please read the Google’s Consumer Terms of Service, which is an agreement between you and Google. (https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/terms/) Please note that Google’s Consumer Terms of Service do not meet the requirements of FERPA and do not protect confidential information, such as student records to the extent required by FERPA. Therefore, confidential information, such as student records must not be disclosed or transmitted through Google+ or any other Google Consumer Apps not included under the agreement between Teachers College and Google. Students should not be required to use Google Apps other than the Core Services.

All Google Consumer Applications will be available in the upper right corner of your Gmail Inbox screen, by clicking the “More” link under your current list of TCApps. It will bring you to a list of available Google Consumer Applications.

When accessing the Google Consumer Applications while logged into your TC Apps account, you will be prompted once per application to accept the individual Terms of Service agreement for that specific Google Consumer Application. Once you click on the “Agree To” Link you will be allowed into that consumer application.
