One way to contact all students in the class is to use the announcement & news forum. Any news items you send to the students will be both: 1) sent to the students' email and 2) listed at the top of the course in the News Forum.
1. Click on Turn editing on
2. Click the Announcements & News forum at the top of the course
3. Click on Add a new topic
4. Type a Subject and Message. Decide if you want to add an Attachment. The Mail now checkbox at the bottom sends the message immediately; otherwise there is a delay to allow time for editing.
5. Finally, click on Post to forum.
