Course Description:
The course is a comprehensive review of the dream theory of Freud and Jung. There will be an historical component, in that we will trace the cultural function of “dreaming” beginning with shamanism, ancestor cults, religious ideologies of the soul, hypnotism and finally into depth psychology. Anchored by this history we will disclose motivations as to why Jung and Freud were called to re-establish the dream as an integral part in psychological healing, how they clashed over the interpretation of dreams and why the use of dreams in clinical practice still instigates a scene of intense divergence in contemporary clinical psychology.
