Mayor Cory A. Booker to Keynote Second Annual Equity Symposium
Newark, New Jersey's Cory A. Booker will deliver the closing keynote address on Tuesday, November 14th at 4PM at the Campaign for Educational Equity's second annual symposium, "Examining America's Commitment to Closing Achievement Gaps: NCLB and Its Alternatives."
The symposium, which takes place on Monday, November 13th and Tuesday, November 14th will bring together education experts from across the country to consider what closing these gaps will entail and how substantial progress can be achieved. Mayor Booker, elected in May 2006 by a 3-1 margin, has identified education as one of the top priorities of his administration: "We want to make sure that every child, by the time they're six years old, arrives in school healthy and ready to learn." Booker, a TC Trustee, was named one of America's Best Leaders in April 2006 by US News and World Report and one of "The Hot List: America's Most Powerful Players Under 40" by Black Enterprise in December 2005.
