Dr. Samantha Shapses-Wertheim is an educator, trainer and consultant committed to engaging students, faculty, and administrators in the practice of social justice education. Dr. Shapses-Wertheim has created and conducted leadership, team building and diversity workshops for the past 15 years as a student affairs administrator. She has held various roles in higher education, most recently serving as the Associate Dean of Students at the Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Shapses-Wertheim is also a trained facilitator and coach of Intergroup Dialogue, a method of creating cross-cultural communication through sustained dialogue. Throughout her work and research Samantha has focused on multicultural education, cross-cultural communication, interactions between diverse peers, privilege and creating opportunities for exploration of issues pertaining to social justice.
Dr. Shapses-Wertheim holds an Ed.D. from New York University in Higher and Postsecondary Education, a M.A. from New York University in Higher Education and Student Affairs, and B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in Comparative Arts and Women’s Studies
