Summer 2013 Financial Aid
Before completing the summer aid application, please read the following statements:- The form is an interactive PDF. Please save the original form to your computer, complete it, save it, and attach it to an e-mail to financialaid@tc.edu. You can also bring it onto our office at 134 Thompson.
- Do not complete the form in your browser, and do not use Mac Preview to complete it. Use Adobe, if possible.
- This form is for continuing students, not new students. If your first term at TC is the summer term, you do not need to complete the 2013 summer aid application.
- It is best to complete this form after you register for summer courses. If you indicate a certain number of summer credit hours on the form but do not enroll in those hours, it may affect your aid. In some cases, it may make you totally ineligible for summer aid (for example, if you indicate 12 credit hours on the form but only enroll in in six, you may have to return some of your loan funding).
- Please click here to access information on how to increase the Graduate PLUS Loan. Disbursement dates are also included on this document.
If you have read and understand the above statements, click here to access the summer aid application. You must read all directions on the form and answer all applicable questions.
Most students who take summer courses pay for them with federal student loans. It is highly unlikely that you will receive scholarship funding if you choose to come in the summer.
- The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan is used most often in the summer.
- If you have remaining Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan eligibility, you can use it during the summer.
- There will be no Perkins Loan offered during the summer.
How many credit hours do I have to enroll in?
As long as you are in six total credits during the summer sessions, it does not matter how they are distributed. You could take all six in A, all six in B, or three in A and three in B, or in any other combination.
How will summer financial aid disburse?
Disbursements will still occur in two halves as necessary for all federal loans. The two disbursement rule is a regulation set forth by the US Department of Education. Students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours before the funds pay out.
- If you are a Summer A student, your aid will disburse twice in Summer A and your refund will come after the second Summer A disbursement.
- If you are a Summer B student, your aid will disburse twice in Summer B and your refund will come after the second Summer B disbursement.
- If you are a Summer A and Summer B student, your aid will disburse once in Summer A and once in Summer B and your refund will come after the Summer B disbursement.
What are the disbursement dates?
- Summer A (May 22 through June 26) disbursement dates: May 22 and June 12
- Summer B (July 8 through August 15) disbursement dates: July 8 and July 24
- Summer AB (May 22 through August 15) disbursement dates: May 22 and July 8
