Official communication will be sent to your student G-mail account (UNI@tc.columbia.edu). You can set it up by logging into your MyTC Portal.

Our summer hours are currently in effect!
Monday through Thursday -- 9 am to 5 pm

Important Dates

Students interested in being considered for scholarship for the upcoming academic year should apply for scholarship via their admissions application. The scholarship application is a lifetime application and only needs to be completed once.

The 2014-2015 FAFSA is currently available at www.fafsa.ed.gov. This FAFSA will apply to the Fall 2014 term, the Spring 2015 term, and the Summer 2015 Term. Be sure to use our school code (G03979) on the FAFSA.

Summer Financial Aid

To receive federal and/or scholarship assistance for the Summer term, you must follow the instructions and read the information below: 
 
Complete the 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Teachers College federal school code is G03979
  • If you have already completed the FAFSA for this academic year, you do not need to submit another one.
  • If you did not apply for financial aid for this academic year, you must submit a 2011-2012 FAFSA for the Summer 2012 term by June 30, 2012.
New Students:
Please follow the Award Letter Process.
**If you will attend for the Summer B session only, you are not eligible for the Subsidized Stafford Loan as it has been eliminated as of July 1st, 2012.  If you were offered this loan, please contact the Financial Aid Office to update your package.
 
Continuing Students:
Please complete the Summer 2012 Loan Application if you have already borrowed federal loans for Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 and would like to borrow additional federal loans funds help pay Summer expenses. 
Note: If you do not already have an E-Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling on file for your Stafford and or PLUS Loans, you must also complete these steps here.
Note: If your credit check is expired, you must complete a new credit check online here for any Graduate PLUS loan requests. 
 
**Summer 2012 loans will be processed beginning April 16th, 2012. 
 

Summer Aid Eligibility
  • You must meet the general financial aid eligibility criteria to receive Summer financial aid.
  • Summer aid eligibility is determined by the length of the particular session(s) you attend and the number of credits in which you are enrolled.
  • Summer aid consists of Federal Direct Loans.
  • If you have exhausted your Federal Direct Stafford Loan eligibility during the Fall/Spring terms, you will not be able to receive any Federal Stafford loans during the Summer.
  • If you have exhausted your Federal Direct Stafford Loan, you may only be eligible for Graduate PLUS Loan.
  • You may also need to do an updated credit check for a loan increase from your Graduate PLUS Loan here
 
Summer Aid Disbursement
  • The earliest the Office of Financial Aid will be disbursing the federal aid will be on the first day of the start of the Summer semester you have enrolled, provided you meet all the disbursement and eligibility criteria.
  • Scholarships are set to disburse on May 22nd for Summer A and July 6th for Summer B.  They will disburse based on tuition liability for the given sessions A and B.
  • If you will be enrolling for at least 6 credits during the Summer A session only, your disbursement will be arriving in two equal parts. The first half will be disbursing on May 17th, 2012 and the second half will be disbursing on June 8th, 2012.
  • If you will be enrolling for at least 6 credits during the Summer B session only, your disbursement will be arriving in two equal parts. The first half will be disbursing on July 2nd, 2012 and the second half will be disbursing on July 18th, 2012.
  • If you will be enrolling for at least 6 credits during the Summer A and Summer B session, your disbursement will be arriving in two equal parts. The first half will be disbursing on May 17th, 2012 and the second half will be disbursing on July 2nd, 2012.
  • All students expecting a refund check of the excess amount will need to plan accordingly.

Summer Enrollment Changes

Changing the session and/or number of credits in which you are enrolled can impact the amount of your financial aid award. You must notify the Office of Financial Aid if:
  • if you initially indicated your enrollment plans to us, but will make or made changes to the session(s) in which you are enrolling, or
  • You have withdrawn from all or some of your courses, or
  • You drop below 6 credits/points
