Peter Greeman Scholarship

The Peter Greeman CTI Scholarship will be granted to financially qualified students who are seeking to obtain a degree in education (with state teacher initial certification) with a demonstrated interest in studying urban and minority education and plans to pursue a teaching position in urban settings, particularly in New York City public schools. Greeman recipients are selected by a faculty and administrative committee at Teachers College and, if awarded, receive a scholarship that will pay a maximum of 36 credits* (12 credits per semester). Upon graduation, recipients must commit to teaching in a New York City public school, or similar urban school district in the New York metropolitan area for at least two years.

*Additional credits may be considered for students pursuing longer degree programs/certifications.

Students interested in applying for the Peter Greeman CTI Scholarship must complete the CTI Interest Form, in addition to providing a resume, written statement (details on the interest form), and two letters of recommendation. These items must be emailed to enrollmentservices@tc.columbia.edu by May 1st, 2014. Please include all items in the same email message, if possible.

Please Note:
Students must successfully complete and submit their application for admission to Teachers College before they may apply for the Peter Greeman Scholarship.

Students who wish to apply should demonstrate high academic achievement and financial need. Students must agree to teach in a high needs, urban NYC school for (at least) two years after graduation. Preference may be given to students from a NYC urban community.
