How to Enroll in/Request to Waive the Insurance

Enroll in, Upgrade, or Request a Waiver 2014-2015

The option to enroll in, upgrade, or request a waiver in the Columbia Plan for new Fall students will be available through myTC mid-July 2014. You must be registered for Fall classes to enroll in or request to waive the insurance.

The deadline for enrollment and waiver requests for new students is September 16, 2014 for the Fall semester, and February 3, 2015 for the Spring semester.

HOW TO ENROLL: To enroll for the Gold or Platinum level of the Columbia Student Medical Insurance Plan; please follow these simple instructions:

  • Log onto myTC Portal: http://my.tc.edu
  • Click on ‘TC Services’
  • Go to the ‘Enrollment & Student Services' menu
  • Click on ‘Columbia Health and Medical Insurance’
  • Click on ‘Columbia Health & Insurance Enrollment’
  • Select Fall Term 2014, or select Spring Term 2015
  • Place a check mark next to your plan of choice, Gold or Platinum
  • Click on 'Add to My Account'
  • Click on 'View My Charges' to complete transaction

HOW TO SUBMIT A WAIVER REQUEST: If you have comparable insurance and would like to waive the Columbia Student Medical Insurance Plan, please follow the simple instructions:

  • Log onto myTC Portal: http://my.tc.edu
  • Click on ‘TC Services’
  • Go to the ‘Enrollment & Student Services' menu
  • Click on ‘Columbia Health and Medical Insurance’
  • Click on ‘Request to Waive’
  • Click on ‘Enter Waiver Information’
  • Select Fall Term 2014, or select Spring Term 2015
  • Fill out the required fields
  • Click on ‘Submit Waiver Request’ button
  • Click on “View my Charges’ to complete

Please note: The Columbia Health Fee cannot be waived - regardless of insurance coverage - if you (1) live in campus housing OR (2) if you are taking 12 or more billable credits in the Fall OR Spring semester.

The deadline for enrollment and waiver requests for current or returning students is September 16, 2014. Please contact Insurance & Immunization Records at health-immunization@tc.edu or 212-678-3006 with any questions.

Enrollment after the deadline is considered only if a student loses other health insurance coverage. Students must contact Insurance & Immunization Records at health-immunization@tc.edu within 30 days of losing their insurance, and provide documentation of coverage termination.
