Our Campers

Each year we welcome 200 children from across the City. These children come to us from over 75 public and independent schools. Our gender-balanced groups include both new and returning campers. Our youngest campers are rising first graders who just completed kindergarten. Our oldest group is comprised of rising fifth graders who just completed 4th grade. A typical camp group includes 25 campers and four teachers for a 1:6 ratio.

Hollingworth campers are inquisitive, enthusiastic, collaborative learners who thrive in purposeful explorations with teachers and peers alike. Our campers love a challenge, and blossom with us, not only as thinkers with a scientific mindset filled with wonder and curiosity, but also with independence, social skills, and an enhanced sense of self.

Our camp is fully accessible and our activities accommodate children who may experience physical limitations as well as dietary restrictions.

One of our campers recently described Hollingworth as “a favorite book coming to life each day with never ending characters and chapters.” We agree wholeheartedly, and we know that the children are at the heart of this story of sci- ence, learning, and growing.

While research for high school and college students validates an underrepresentation of young women in many fields of science, we are proud that our camp draws a balanced number of girls and boys.
