Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Campus and Auxiliary Services (AVP) and working closely with the leadership team of Campus and Auxiliary Services, the incumbent is actively involved with the strategic planning and policy development of the Campus and Auxiliary Services organization and is responsible for directing the operation of three distinct units – Residential Services, Card Services and Leased Properties as well as providing leadership to budget and financial administration across all departments within Campus and Auxiliary Services, coordination of technology initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Campus Services, the Associate Director is responsible for providing the leadership in the management, administration, and strategic planning for the offices of Residential Services and Card Services (ID Center). The Associate Director is responsible for a budget of over $13 million; manages a diverse staff of over 25, including two Assistant Directors direct reports; and oversees the areas of housing assignments, community development, guest and conference housing, fiscal management, all departmental personnel matters. The Associate Director will also oversee the College ID Card Services operation. The Card Services operation is responsible for issuing College ID Cards with appropriate access as well as working with the Columbia University Office of Housing and Dining with the One Card program. The Associate Director will assist as needed with faculty housing, leased properties and other projects as needed.


Manager of Residential Services and Projects

The Manager for Residential Services and Projects is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing activities in the residential facilities. This includes purchase of supplies and equipment, work orders, projects and management of human resources. Additionally, he/she will work closely with the campus Office of Facilities and the Office of Capital Projects to ensure that all trades work, custodial operations, HVAC work, building envelope projects/repairs, building systems projects/repairs, and building infrastructure projects/repairs are being completed appropriately.


Assistant Director of Residential Services Housing

The Assistant Director of Residential Services for Housing is primarily responsible for all aspects of housing assignments, billing, summer conference housing and guest housing. This includes communicating with prospective students about housing availability, eligibility, enrollment status, on-campus accommodations and off-campus workshops. This person maintains the housing waitlist, ensures accuracy of housing records and processes housing applications for all terms. She/he works closely with the Assistant Director of Residential Facilities on preparation of units for move-ins and move-outs and liaises with vendors, campus constituents and off-campus entities.  This person selects, trains, supervises and evaluates the Office Assistants and Summer Interns.  This person oversees the day-to-day operations of both the Guest and Conference Housing operations.  Additional responsibilities include: coordinating the room transfer process, updating occupancy reports, chairing the Special Cases Committee, reconciliation of housing deposits and marketing.

The Secretary provides assistance with administration of the operational processes of the Office of Residential Services and Card Services at Teachers College. These processes include, but are not limited to: guest & conference housing, ID card operations, assignments, billing, contracts, deposits, residential mail services, publications, residence hall facilities services, etc. The Secretary acts as customer service representative for Office of Residential Services and Card Services and has an understanding of the functions of the Office of Residential Services and Card Services and can answer questions related to these departments and/or refer as necessary.

Responsible for the Whittier Hall mailroom operation. Sorts and distributes daily mail and notifies residents about package deliveries. Follows-up with the U.S. Post Office to sort out any mail related issues. Forwards mail for former Whittier residents.
