Fellowships and Internships

ETS Fellowship and Internship Programs

ETS offers several programs for scholars who either hold a doctoral degree or who are enrolled in a doctoral program in the field of educational research, measurement and related fields and who are interested in research opportunities. Areas of emphasis include the following:

  • measurement theory
  • validity
  • natural language processing and computational linguistics
  • cognitive psychology
  • learning theory
  • linguistics
  • speech recognition and processing
  • teaching and classroom research
  • statistics
  • international large scale assessments

ETS Summer Internship Program for Graduate Students
Interns conduct research under the guidance of an ETS mentor in Princeton, N.J. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time doctoral program and have completed a minimum of 2 years of coursework toward their PhD or EdD.

Harold Gulliksen Psychometric Research Fellowship Program
Fellows study at their universities during the academic year and conduct a research project under the supervision of an academic mentor and in consultation with ETS research scientists or psychometricians. During the summer, fellows participate in the ETS Summer Internship Program. Applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program, have completed all required coursework, and be working on a dissertation related to statistics, psychometrics, educational/psychological measurement or quantitative methods.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Award Program
Selected fellows conduct independent research under the mentorship of ETS senior researchers in Princeton, NJ. Candidates must have received their PhD or EdD within the past 3 years.

Sylvia Taylor Johnson Minority Fellowship in Educational Measurement
Selected fellows conduct independent research under the mentorship of ETS senior researchers in Princeton, NJ. Candidates must have received their PhD or EdD within the past 10 years and must be US citizens or permanent residents.
