The Fortune Society was founded in 1967 to help ex-prisoners returning to the community reintegrate into society.  Our assistance takes many forms, from Career Development to Adult Education; however, vital areas that Fortune has developed over the years are our Counseling and Family Services departments.  These units in particular work with our clients to help them identify and address the emotional and social problems that often are created or increased by incarceration.  Through Fortune, clients are able to improve their anger management, decision making and conflict resolution skills.

Established at Teachers College in 1986, the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (ICCCR) is an innovative Center dedicated to advancing the study and practice of conflict resolution. Our mission is an educational one: to help individuals, schools, communities, businesses, and governments better understand the nature of conflict and develop the skills and settings that enable them to resolve conflict constructively. We particularly emphasize the importance of the social, cultural, and institutional contexts within which conflicts occur. Our philosophy links theory and research closely with practice. We are committed to conducting important and useful theoretical and applied research on cooperation, conflict resolution, and social justice. We are also committed to developing, evaluating, and providing instruction in state-of-the-art methods for the constructive resolution of conflict, and to communicating our conceptual and practical models in an accessible and engaging manner.
