About The Awards
In 2005, the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (ICCCR) at Teachers College, Columbia University established an annual award in the name of Professor Emeritus Morton Deutsch, an eminent social psychologist and founder of the ICCCR. Each year, the award ceremony is held in the beginning of April to honor a distinguished scholar-practitioner and to recognize an exemplary Columbia University student paper in the field of social justice. Awardees of the Distinguished Contribution Prize are asked to deliver a presentation regarding their contributions to the field to an audience of students, faculty, and other interested parties during the ceremony. The main purpose of the award is to stimulate and honor scholarly and practical work in the area of social justice.
