Power and Conflict

General Overview

This research will empirically validate and refine a new social-psychological model of the dynamics of power and conflict, extending Deutsch's theory of social interdependence and conflict into situations of asymmetrical power and interdependence. We have presented this research at several academic conferences and have one article published in Negotiation and Conflict Management Research, and three articles currently submitted for publication. This year, we have begun developing a mathematical model in order to work with it through computer simulations. We are also conducting cross-cultural work on the model. Finally, I am currently co-authoring a new applied book based on this research for a business audience, and are conducting our second workshop at TC on this model this Summer, 2011.
