Local - New York City

The Office of School and Community Partnerships (OSCP) collects information on outreach programs, special projects, research efforts and teaching experiences at TC that engage students, teachers, school leaders and parents in the wider school community. This work connects to a broad spectrum of needs and interests in New York City schools, from leadership, to curriculum enrichment, health, counseling, professional development, after-school programs, arts, sport and leisure activities.

The Harlem Math and Science Partnership

The OSCP and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at Columbia University have secured a $5 million grant for the work from the GE Foundation. The five-year demonstration project focuses on improving student achievement science, math, engineering, design and technology in 10 to 13 high-need Harlem schools. The project will involve curriculum alignment for math and science in grades K-12, with special attention to the needs of English language learners (ELLs). In addition, it will provide workshops for students and professional development for teachers for using inquiry-based learning.
