The Spring 2016 edition of the Journal of Mathematics Education at Teachers College (JMETC) is now available online. The current issue features seven articles that demonstrate at least one effective teaching practice. The articles offer practices ranging from access and equity to professionalism to foster discussions that go beyond teaching mathematics content and skills helping to focus on the development of mathematicians and the establishment of a mathematical community. The issue also features Dr. Geoffrey Howson, who expands on his talk from the Columbus Day Symposium, on what it means to go beyond teaching mathematics and providing thoughts on the education of the mathematically gifted. Guest editors for this issue were current Mathematics Education doctoral students William McGuffey and Kimberly Barba.
