Miriam Baigorri, M.S. CCC-SLP has been a Clinical Instructor at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders since the Fall of 2009. She also works as a pediatric bilingual speech language pathologist at Bellevue Hospital. She is experienced in working with a variety of communication disorders including articulation, cleft palate speech, apraxia, fluency, language delay, receptive and expressive language, literacy, narrative language, pragmatic language, and executive functioning.  Miriam is the clinical coordinator of the Bolivia and Ghana Speech Language Pathology Program at Teachers College.  She has recently developed a cleft palate training program in Guatemala and Colombia.  She co-teaches the cleft palate course at Teachers College and mentors bilingual clinicians at the Bilingual Extension Institute at Teachers College, Columbia University.  Miriam received a Master of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree here at Teachers College with primary research interests in bilingual speech perception and production.


Jessica Baquero MS, CCC-SLP, has been a Clinical Supervisor and Diagnostics Instructor at the Mysak Clinic since January of 2012. Prior to joining the Mysak Clinic staff, Jessica worked for the New York City Department of Education providing services to bilingual children with communication disorders in community school districts. She has extensive knowledge regarding New York State Learning Standards and Core Curriculum, as well as experience providing Response to Intervention services. As well, Jessica worked at the Manhattan district office as a bilingual evaluator.  She has experience working with pediatric and adult populations within a residential setting, providing therapy for patients with developmental, speech, language, executive function, swallowing, cognitive, and neurogenic disorders. She also served as a Clinical Supervisor for the Ghana Speech Language Pathology Program at Teachers College and currently works in a private practice with children who have various communication deficits. Jessica graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2007.


Gila Harary, M.S. CCC-SLP received her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia University, Teachers College in 2006 and has been practicing in New York and New Jersey ever since.  Her clinical experience includes working with both the pediatric and adult populations within school, clinic, and hospital/rehabilitation settings. She provides therapy to a wide range of individuals with various speech, language, cognitive, neurogenic, developmental, and feeding/swallowing disorders.  Gila is fluent in Hebrew. She is also trained in PROMPT, which is a therapeutic approach toward motor speech and articulations disorders.  She has been working as a clinical and diagnostic supervisor at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders since December 2011, overseeing therapy and evaluations conducted by the student clinician.


Jean Lee, M.S. CCC-SLP is a TC alumnus ('04) who returned to TC as a clinical instructor/supervisor in 2010. She has worked in a variety of settings -  including the DOE - District 75, acute rehabilitation for post-stroke and TBI patients at Bellevue Hospital Center, a Special Education preschool (CPSE) setting, an elementary charter school, and private practice. She has used her trilingual (Korean/Spanish/English) skills to serve this variety of populations. Her particular interests include bilingual language development and disorders, and raising awareness in minority groups regarding speech-language pathology. She enjoys working with graduate students, helping them to prepare to join the professional SLP world.


Jo Ann Nicholas, Ed.D., CCC-A received her doctoral degree in audiology from Teachers College in 1977 and has spent her career teaching undergraduate and graduate students in speech/language pathology, as well as providing clinical audiology services in a range of professional settings.  She returned to Teachers College as Director of Audiology Services in 2002 and served as the Director of the Mysak Clinic for several years.  Since 2010 she has been a full time lecturer in audiology here at Teachers College.


Emily Roblee-Perdios, M.S., CCC/SLP, has been a part-time Clinical Diagnostic Instructor at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders since January 2009.  Emily is an alumni of Teachers College, Columbia University, having received her M.S. in speech/language pathology in May of 2002.  Prior to living in New York, Emily received her B.S. degree in speech/language pathology from Marquette University in May of 1999.  In addition to her clinical work at Teachers College, Emily has developed and maintained a private practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.  Her practice opened in September 2007 in Manhattan.  She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children with a variety of developmental delays and disorders including autism, verbal apraxia, auditory processing deficits and executive functioning disorders ranging in age from 12-months through elementary school.  Emily has also developed an interest in creating parent/caregiver training programs and educational workshops focusing on communication, play and feeding development within the birth to three population.  Prior to opening her practice, Emily worked with children in the New York City Early Intervention Program providing home-based therapy services and with the New York City Department of Education within District 75.


Lisa Sommer, MA, CCC-SLP/TSHH has been a clinical supervisor at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders since the fall of 2010.  Lisa has been a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist for more than 10 years, focusing on developmental, speech, language, feeding, and pragmatic disorders, specifically with the Early Intervention Population and servicing medically fragile children with complex medical and neurological conditions. She graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Speech and Hearing Sciences and an MA in Speech-Language Pathology from the Robert L. Milisen Speech-Language and Hearing Clinics at Indiana University.  Lisa was awarded the Departmental Associate Instructorship and held a teaching assistant position for American Sign Language during her graduate studies. After several years of working in pediatric medical settings in New Jersey and Manhattan, Lisa started her own private and consulting practice, servicing the pediatric population of Manhattan. She currently services a diversified caseload of children privately and while also consulting at a Charter School Network in Harlem.  Lisa’s clinical experiences range across the lifespan from infants and toddlers through geriatric.  However, her primary clinical interests and areas of expertise are in pediatric feeding and swallowing, developmental language and speech disorders, while further expanding the knowledge of the parents, medical professionals, and teachers of the children whom she services.  Among her favorite professional work, is teaching and supervising the graduate clinicians at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders.


Joe Watson MS CCC-SLP has been a Clinical Instructor at the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders since Spring 2012.  Prior to joining the staff at the Mysak Clinic, he practiced for five years in an outpatient clinical facility for Premier Healthcare, a division of The National Institute For People With Disabilities Network (YAI) where he continues to work in addition to his role at the Mysak center. He treats patients of all ages with a broad range of congenital and acquired disorders from Downs Syndrome and Autism to aphasia. He brings to the clinic his expertise in  addressing cognitive deficits, leaning disabilities, behavioral disorders, articulation disorders, fluency disorders, and also in dysphagia evaluation and treatment. Joe works closely with a multidisciplinary team and has trained speech therapists coming into practice in a medical setting. He has also worked in residential settings and rehabilitation facilities, and in private practice.   Joe attained his Masters in Speech Language Pathology at Teachers College Columbia University in 2006.
