The Magic Bagpipes at Milbank Library

The Magic Bagpipes at Milbank Library

Dressed in traditional Scottish garb, Boyd Moore, Associate Director of Facilities, demonstrated his skill at playing the bagpipes to a class of 6-8 year olds from the Grant School in the Milbank Library. Moore began playing the bagpipes two years ago because he liked the "challenge and mystique" of them. Currently, he plays with Leather Neck Pipe and Drums on Staten Island. Nickolas Shearer, a professional writer from Edinburgh, read Gerry Armstrong's The Magic Bagpipe to the children. These readings hosted by Jennifer Govan, Assistant Director of Collection and Corriculum Support, take place on a weekly basis in the library for alternating schools in the area.
