About 125 TC graduate students attended the first annual Organizational Psychology Career Fair, sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Department of Organization & Leadership, and Career Services, was held October 6 in the TC Cafeteria. Ten companies came to speak with Organizational Psychology graduate students about full-time and internship positions available in Change Management, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Training & Development, and related areas. These companies included Andersen Consulting, Arthur Andersen, Deloitte Consulting, Cigna Corporation, Goldman Sachs, Maximum Management, Pfizer Inc., PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Stromberg Consulting, and Towers Perrin.

The sponsors of the event were extremely pleased with its large turnout and high-energy feel. Marianne Tramelli, Director of Career Services, said, "this collaboration gave an excellent presence to employers, students, and the TC community…it established a new program that has set the stage for many more to come."

The participating companies expressed their gratitude for having the opportunity to interact on a relatively informal basis with such a large collection of potential employees. Frank San Pietro of Deloitte Consulting called the event a "raging success." The students who attended were delighted to see such a large-scale Organizational Psychology recruiting event launched at TC.

Ann Wrobley, Vice President of SHRM and 2nd-year student in the Organizational Psychology M.A. program, said, "I found the event very beneficial because there were a large number of companies concentrated in one location. The fair presented students with a unique opportunity to show their faces to prospective employers and gain a great deal of information about career opportunities."

The next Organizational Psychology Career Fair will be scheduled for October 2001. Please contact the Department of Organization and Leadership for more information.
