The TESOL and Applied Linguistics Program presented the 4th Annual
APPLE (Applied Linguistics and Language Education) Lecture on March
7th. Featured speaker Elaine Tarone of the University of Minnesota
addressed how social context affects second language acquisition.
Tarone also gave an afternoon colloquium for students and faculty about
the influence on noticing and interlanguage variation on second
language acquisition. The APPLE Lecture invites speakers to address
issues of cutting-edge research, innovative practice or critical policy
and to engender lively professional dialogue in the English Language
Teaching community.
