Students Awarded Diversity Grants

Receiving the grants are: Annie Smiley, a student in the International Educational Development Program, and Grace Clarke Hillyer, a student in the Health Education Program. In addition to Smiley and Hillyer, Hakim Williams, a doctoral student in the International Educational Development Program, has received a $1,000 honorable mention award.
Smiley will use the funding to support her dissertation research on scholarships for orphans and vulnerable children in
. Hillyer’s research focuses on the need to educate uninsured Hispanic women in Lesotho regarding colorectal cancer screening. Williams is examining the causes of youth violence at a school in New York City . Trinidad and Tobago
