Yet, the College already has a rich tradition in shaping data-driven policy through research and practice and dialogue. In addition to the luminaries TC counts among its distinguished current and emeriti faculty in the field, the College is also proud to acknowledge Phyllis L. Kossoff, a distinguished alumna, scholarship supporter and member of the President’s Advisory Council, for helping to make TC the nation’s premier address for debate on education policy. Through her generosity in establishing the Phyllis L. Kossoff Policy Lecture, the College has hosted key figures such as U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; Merryl Tisch, Chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents (and a TC alumna); and David Steiner, the state’s Commissioner of Education. And on April 16th, at TC’s third annual Academic Festival, Cathleen Black, Chancellor of New York City’s Public Schools, will deliver the Kossoff Lecture on Education and Policy.
Teachers College is most grateful to Phyllis Kossoff for creating this forum for educational leaders to share their vision as well as advancing the College’s role and reputation in the policy field.
