Chris Emdin Teams up With Rap Artist GZA to Sponsor Science Rap Battle

Christopher Emdin, an Assistant Professor of Science Education who uses Hip Hop to teach science, has teamed up with the rap star GZA to sponsor a Science Hip Hop battle for New York City high school students that will be launched
December 12, at 6 p.m. in Cowin Auditorium. The event will include presentations by GZA and Emdin and a panel discussion about the need for science instruction in the schools and how Hip Hop elements can engage students in science. The event will kick off a citywide science rap battle in which high school students will write rap songs about chemistry, biology or physics concepts and compete against one another for a final prize.
