Celebrated newswoman Andrea Mitchell will be the special guest at an event hosted by TC's Annual Fund on Monday, April 30, at 8 p.m.  Mitchell, NBC's chief foreign correspondent, is featured regularly on NBC Nightly News, Today, and Meet the Press.  She will be speaking about current affairs and her recent book, Talking Back-'to Presidents, Dictators, and Assorted Scoundrels, published by Penguin.

Mitchell's substantial experience in foreign affairs and at the White House, where she was chief correspondent for NBC, gives her a unique perspective on current events and world leaders.  She has had exceptional access to every president since Jimmy Carter, and has interviewed political figures such as Fidel Castro and Sudanese President Omar-el-Bashir.  Her pointed questions to President Bashir about the genocide in Sudan's Darfur province led to her forcible ejection by armed security guards.  Her resolve was apparent early in her career; her very first posting abroad was in Guyana, replacing a reporter murdered by supporters of Jim Jones.
Students, faculty, staff and alumni are all invited to join TC President Susan Fuhrman in welcoming Mitchell.  The event will take place at The Joyce B. Cowin Center Auditorium; admission is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required.  Please respond no later than Friday, April 13 by calling 212-678-3955 or by email at tcinvite@tc.edu.

Copies of Mitchell's book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
