TC Deputy Provost John Allegrante has been named to the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Allegrante, who is also Professor of Health Education, was notified by letter from Kathleen Sibelius, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. His appointment, which is effective immediately, will run through the end of August 2016.
The Board of Scientific Counselors makes recommendations to Sibelius and to CDC Director Thonmas Frieden regarding the goals, policies, strategies and priorities for the prevention and control of injury, and also reviews progress toward realizing those objectives.
Allegrante also serves as Editor of Health, Education & Behavior, the flagship journal of the Society for Public Health Education, and is a past President of the Society.
