  • Caregiving Research Wins Accolades for TC Student

    The caregiving process and the well-being of family caregivers have been among the most frequently investigated gerontological topics. Despite the fact that family caregiving occurs in the context of a long-standing and emotionally laden relationship, much of the research has overlooked interpersonal factors. That isn't the case with Laura K. Nisco. She is a scholar whose passion for her research is borne out of her own relationship with her mother and the caregiving role she undertook after her mother's untimely death.

  • Dr. Frank Newman: Sachs Lecturer and More

    Dr. Frank Newman, former President of the Education Commission of the States (ECS) since 1985, will be the Julius and Rosa Sachs Lecturer for the 1999-2000 academic year. Newman calls the lectures a "golden opportunity" to talk about issues of policy and education, which, he says, "are the central issues for the United States."

  • Task Force Issues Diversity Report

    Professor Peter Coleman and Security Officer Dennis Chambers presented President Arthur Levine with the final report compiled by the Teachers College Task Force on Diversity and Community. The Task Force met through the summer to compile the report.

  • Tiina K. Urv: 1998 Graduate Wins Major Award from Academy of Mental Retardation

    Tiina K.Urv, a 1998 Ph.D. recipient in the Mental Retardation/Research Program at Teachers College, has won the prestigious "Outstanding New Researcher in Mental Retardation" award from Academy of Mental Retardation for her dissertation.
