  • TC Student Senate's First Annual Faculty Recognition Ceremony

    The First Annual Faculty Recognition Ceremony was held by TC's Student Senate in May. At that ceremony, the Senate recognized faculty and staff in different departments for their on-going support of and contributions to student excellence, student life and issues, and TC Student Senate.

  • TC's First Retiree Luncheon

    More than 50 people came from as far as Puerto Rico, South Carolina and Florida to attend the TC's first Retiree Luncheon on June 12th. Many of the attendees agreed that it was nice to get together and feel like a family again.

  • AEGIS Program: Summer in New York City

    For 33 doctoral students who make up two cohorts of the AEGIS (Adult Education Guided Intensive Study) program, at least part of their summer vacation is being spent in a rigorous learning experience at Teachers College. One cohort of 16 is just completing their tenure while the other cohort of 17 is just beginning theirs.

  • Thank You, Elaine Brantley

    If you have ever walked through the TC cafeteria, then surely you were blessed with a healing smile and a “thanks, hon” from Elaine Brantley. On the morning of June 9, 2003, Elaine passed away. As Cynthia Greene, Academic Secretary for the Nutrition Program said, “Elaine—gone, but not forgotten.”

  • The Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished New York City Principals Holds Its First Leadership Seminar

    On May 28th and 29th, TC hosted 25 Cahn Fellows for a two-day leadership seminar. The seminar has been designed to focus on a wide range of leadership issues relevant to individuals and organizations in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

  • Maxine Greene Receives Honorary Doctorate from Long Island University

    Maxine Greene, Wililam F. Russell Professor in the Foundations of Education (Emeritus), received an honorary doctorate from Long Island University. Here she ispresented with the honor by LIU President David J. Steinberg.

  • Keller Honored by Mayor Bloomberg for VSA Arts Festival

    On May 29, Richard Keller, Director of the Office of Access and Services for Individuals with Disabilities was honored by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg for his and TC’s commitment to “ensuring all children have access to arts-based programs, including dance, creative writing, dance, drama and music…”

  • The Cab Calloway Orchestra at TC

    As part of the Harlem Youth Jazz Arts Festival, co-sponsored by Cab Calloway Harlem Renaissance Center, TC’s Office of Diversity and Community, and the American Federation of Musicians Music Performance Trust Fund, The Cab Calloway Orchestra came to TC under the direction of Calloway Brooks “Prince of Hi-De-Ho,” who is Cab Calloway’s grandson.

  • The Grace Dodge Society Annual Luncheon: Klaassen Fellow Yankowitz Speaks from the Heart

    On a beautiful June afternoon the Grace Dodge Society, which was created in 2001 in honor of alumni and friends who have remembered Teachers College in their estate plans or have made a life-income gift, held its second annual luncheon in the President’s House to honor its members.
