  • Arizona State University Sends TC Two Visiting Professors

    "I was pleased to receive an invitation to be a visiting professor at Teachers College," said David Berliner. "TC is of great historic importance in education, and I am happy to be a part of such a distinguished institution."

  • Capstone: Inventing A Learning Experience

    This summer TC's Capstone program gave 40 high school students the opportunity to be inventors in their own right. At the end of the program, the students attempted to persuade each other to buy what they designed. "They had to write a slogan or jingle, make a model of it, and explain the scientific workings of their invention," said Capstone director Julian Cohen, a teacher at Central Park East Secondary School and an adjunct in TC's Social Studies Education program.

    Twenty-seven editorial reporters from across the country and Canada came to New York in July to attend the Hechinger Institute's three-day Seminar on Education for Editorial Writers.

  • Minority Postdoctoral Fellow Examines Compensatory Education

    Gregory Anderson is the eldest child of a black South African family that was forced to leave their homeland in the 1960s. As a result of this experience, he believes strongly in providing disadvantaged students with some form of compensatory education or academic development to ensure their success.
