WeBop! Exposing Young Kids to Jazz

We all know music can soothe the senses, but now it's helping young children learn. WeBop!, a class put on by Jazz at Lincoln Center, is part of a program is designed to expose kids to Jazz and learn about the soulful history of the genre. Nyala Wright is an integral part of the program, which was created after Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis and former president Bill Clinton heard something very interesting during a symposium on the impact of Jazz and American Culture.
WeBop! is an early-childhood music education program in which children (ages 2-5) and their parents or caregivers sing, move, and play with the soulful rhythms and great melodies of jazz. WeBop! teachers lead children to a greater understanding of jazz, of their national musical heritage, and, ultimately, of themselves.
WeBop! is a collaboration with Teachers College at Columbia University.
