Reading & Writing Project Signs Up Two Connecticut School Systems

TC's Reading & Writing Project has agreed to provide teacher training to two school systems in Connecticut. Groton received a $1 million Department of Defense grant to engage RWP to run a five-year literacy training program for teachers in grades kindergarten through eight. Superintendent Michael Graner said he believes the grant will be a “game changer” for Groton, which enroll a high number of students from military families, but that “the training would also be available to teachers at our non-military elementary and middle schools,”

Meanwhile, Darien, Connecticut said it will institute professional development in reading and writing through the RWP, for teachers of kindergarten through eighth grade. To read about the Darien program, visit here.
