What is the Registry?

NYSTAP maintains a database of the number of children with vision and hearing impairment categorized by age, sex, severity, and the cause of the disability, as well as the types of services provided, and the settings in which those services occur.

The purpose of the registry:

  • The Registry is used by NYSTAP to determine technical assistance and training needs of staff and families.
  • The Registry establishes a collaborative relationship between programs, families, and NYSTAP.
  • The Registry helps individuals obtain services entitled to them by law. To facilitate this, NYSTAP needs the names of children and youth at risk for, suspected of, or experiencing vision and hearing impairment.
