SPA announces the establishment of a southern cohort based in New Orleans, hosted by Cowen Center at the Tulane University to meet the scheduling needs of emerging leaders in south.

Welcome

The Summer Principals Academy (SPA) at Teachers College, Columbia University is a transformative graduate program for public school educators interested in becoming public school leaders. SPA integrates practice and skill development with theory and research using case studies, simulations and teamwork. Advocating innovation and risk-taking to promote institutional change, our program introduces new possibilities for student learning, school improvement, social equity and opportunity.

The best academic programs support such emergence by providing a rich, complex and adaptive learning environment that mimics closely the actual competencies required, and provides frequent and prompt feedback.  The Summer Principals Academy provides exactly that kind of environment providing respect for and encouragement of cohort participants as they seek to become the best leaders they can be. 

The actual work of our emerging leaders is our best way to communicate our motto:

The Summer Principals Academy is proud to announce the establishment of a southern cohort based in New Orleans. Hosted by Cowen Center at Tulane University, SPA New Orleans is designed specifically to meet the scheduling needs of the emerging leaders from the southern region. We will welcome our inaugural cohort in June 2012.

The Summer Principals Academy, New York is established at Teachers College, Columbia University. Found in 2005, SPA New York will welcome its eighth cohort in July 2012. The Kraft Center, located at the Columbia University Campus will house our new and the returning cohort at one location for 2012 summer classes in New York.
