The Program for the Master of Arts degree preparing for Professorial Studies emphasizes the development of teaching and learning skills for applications in classroom and clinical education settings, building on the advanced study of nursing education and practice. The program includes content in evaluation procedures and basic curriculum design.

Doctor of Education

The Doctoral Executive Program for Nurses offers qualified students preparation for the Doctor of Education degree in Organization and Leadership with a specialization in nursing and healthcare.

The Doctor of Education program requires a minimum of 90 points beyond the Baccalaureate degree. Of these 90 points, a maximum of half (45 points) may be taken elsewhere in an approved graduate program and transferred into Teachers College. Transfer credits will be evaluated and approved in keeping with current Teachers College policy. Their usability or applicability to the student's Program Plan will be determined by an assigned Faculty Advisor. Programs may exceed 90 points to provide a suitable basis for the dissertation and program requirements.

Cohort Program Formats

The three programs are offered in Cohort Formats. Classes are held every Friday during regular semesters; four semesters of classes for both Master of Arts Programs and for the Doctor of Education Program, six semesters of classes plus certification and satisfactory completion of the dissertation. These formats are designed to help learners launch their next career phases without compromising current employment commitments. Most students work fulltime during their course of study.
