B.A in History and Global Studies from the University of Tennessee in 2008. Emily began her career in education at Drew Elementary in New Orleans teaching 5th and 6th grade Language Arts. She then went on to work as the Behavior Interventionist at Batiste Cultural Arts Academy, also in New Orleans, in its first year as a turnaround charter school. Emily is currently the Dean of Students at Batiste Cultural Arts Academy. BCAA is a part of the Renew charter network that turns around the lowest performing K-8 schools in New Orleans. In her role as Dean, Emily has directed literacy interventions for her team and has served on the emotional literacy advisory committee for the entire CMO. She is looking forward to being a part of the first SPA New Orleans cohort and aspires to be a caring and compassionate servant leader for the students and teachers of New Orleans’ most high-need schools.
