Internship Coordinator

Leslie Williams, HPSE doctoral candidate, is the Internship Coordinator in the Higher and Postsecondary Education Program.  Leslie's research focuses on the access, inclusion, and success of underrepresented racial minority, first-generation, and low-socioeconomic status groups in higher education in the United States.  He is currently working on his dissertation, which is entitled, Beyond college enrollment: Exploring the relationship between college access program participation and undergraduate experience.  He has presented several peer reviewed papers at national education research conferences.  His most recent presentation, The intersectionality of learning: Reconceptualizing diversity for teaching and learning in higher education, a co-authored paper, was presented at the American Education Research Association (AERA) annual meeting in April 2013.

Leslie also currently serves as a research assistant to Professor Monica Christensen, and he has served as a teaching assistant for Professor Janice Robinson's course on affirmative action in higher education.  In his professional career, he has held positions as a research and program consultant on higher education access and success and K-12 education reform at the Ford Foundation in New York City.  He also held a position of Assistant Dean of the College for Multicultural Affairs at Connecticut College in New London, CT.
