The Higher and Post Secondary Education Program is fortunate to have a number of student mentors who are available to help new students transition into our program, Teachers College, and
New York City.
Upon being accepted, each new student is paired with a current student mentor who is in the same degree program and shares many of the same interests.
The purpose of the program is to provide new students with a contact person who can offer advice on a variety of issues, such as classes to take, organizations to join, and conferences in which to participate.
Mentors will also be able to provide guidance on taking advantage of living in
New York City as well as the many curricular and extra-curricular opportunities and
Columbia University.
Mentors will communicate via email or over the phone before new students arrive on campus and then will be accessible for one on one conversations once the school year begins.
If you want to get the name of your mentor or have questions about the mentor program, please contact Milagros Castillo at
